Both pointer needles function as designed. This is most noticeable when the engine is switched off at the end of a run, because the white pointer will usually stop mid-tick at 1,000 RPMs, or whatever speed the engine happened to be running at when the ignition was switched off, and not automatically go back to the detent stop that’s located underneath the dial by the yellow shift light.
